Applications of PSEs
PSEs are designed to arrange the upper layer of sidewalks, walkways, garden alleys, etc. Variation of paving slab thickness and appropriate preparation of the base could allow fitting concrete slabs to arrange road surfacing for any load.
Basic fields of application of paving slabs:
All-purpose motorways, industrial roadways;
Streets in residential communities;
Pedestrian areas, urban squares;
Travel ways for passenger vehicles;
Gasoline station areas, leisure areas;
Industrial areas, platforms, urban areas;
Driveways, yard side areas, parking areas;
Consolidation of coasts and slopes.
Selection of paving slabs is dependent on the type of road surface, applied load, scheme of sewage and melt water disposal, and, the appearance and technique of placement (i.e. manual or mechanized).
Thickness and intended use of “AVENUE” PSEs
40 mm – sidewalks and walkways;
60 mm – sidewalks, walkways, squares, vehicle parking areas, and roadways with light traffic (under appropriate design and placement of the base);
80-100 mm and over – roadways with heavy traffic, and industrial objects (under appropriate design and placement of the base)
The surfaces intended to withstand vehicle traffic must be constructed using paving elements with scalloped or non-straight profile of lateral faces (e.g. «falka», double «Ò», etc.). This would ensure proper engagement between slabs, and due resistance to the effect of horizontal shear forces resulting from vehicle braking loads.
